Everybody Check Your Cabin Filter Housing for Leakage Posted by SaabAficionado [Email] (#758) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SaabAficionado) on Thu, 21 Feb 2013 05:47:25 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I am in the process of replacing the seal around the cabin air filter housing as well as the fan motor. Someone in here, I believe it was JoeSS3, posted the following daunting message at the end of a thread on the matter:
"You need to make sure no water gets into your blower motor as well otherwise you'll be replacing that too."
That's exactly what happened to me. Blew my blower motor and I think the leak could have also taken out the resistor pack, but so far it's ok. That's $600.00 in parts alone for both items.
For those with a pre-mid year 2005 or earlier 9-3 SS's like me, there was a partial "fix" Saab implemented mid 2005 (or there abouts), a plastic diverter that channels water away from the cabin filter. Get and install that too.
Just wanted to make this clear to newbies or anybody unaware of the problem. If you have a squeaky fan motor it could already be on its way out :(
Good luck,
Philip
