Ok, hopefully the link will work, I've posted before and after pictures of the top replacement on my 2004 Aero in my gallery.
Here's my basic experience:
The guy (Don) who did this is a Saab nut/fan, he owns a 2006 (I think) Parchment Gray convertible right now and had a 2007 (I think) Aero 'vert that was totalled a little while ago (I saw pics on his smartphone), and he will be more than happy to tell you about all the other Saabs he's owned in addition (it's a lot, trust me...)
The job ended up costing me just under 1700 and he fixed my broken rear defrost (which I suspected) and a broken tensioning cable in the top mechanism (which I had no idea about since the top was working...).
It took longer than I thought it would, dropped off mid-day on a Tuesday, done mid-day on Thursday, but no actual time was quoted to me, I just thought it would take less time.
Don, the owner, does the work himself, he may have an assistant, but I'm not sure. He's a smoker, so your car WILL smell like smoke when you pick it up. I think he did a really good job, but I've only had it 1/2 a day so far, and the top needs about a week to stretch fully into place as I was told when leaving. In any case, with the top up, many of the squeaks and rattles I heard before are gone now.
Initially, I'm quite happy with the work. Don is a character and does also do other Saab work - I may have him repair my driver's side seat where the heater burned through in a spot. He apparently has also replaced over a thousand headliners on 90's vintage 900s.
Hope this helps out!
-Dave
