My '08 9-3 (2.0T, 90k) starting running rough when cold last fall. Otherwise, ran fine. Techron did not help. Eventually CEL came on with misfire code. Search of Saabnet turned up other folks with this problem and attributed it to premature valve wear. My local indy confirmed and recommended valve job. At that point I contacted Saab Parts NM who referred me to their closest Saab warranty provider, Elway Chevrolet (formerly Shaw Saab) in Denver. Service manager knew what I was talking about as soon as I described the symptoms. Said he's seen half a dozen others. They had the head machined, replaced and re-seated the valves -- all covered by GM's warranty. Starts fine again even when cold. Elway Chevrolet is 65 mi from my home, but the extra trips and rental car were well worth it. First time I've had kind thoughts about GM in quite a while.
