There is a new technology on some 2011 & later Garage Door Openers (GDOs). This technology is incompatible with older HomeLink systems.
From HomeLink FAQ: (http://www.homelink.com/faqs)
"The HomeLink Repeater Kit is designed to allow compatibility between a newer Chamberlain, Sears Craftsman, or LiftMaster garage door opener fitted with a yellow antenna wire and the HomeLink system in your vehicle. These garage door openers were manufactured in 2011 or later. If your opener does not have a yellow antenna wire or is not one of the brands listed above, please consider purchasing a Universal Receiver to ensure compatibility."
To use an older HomeLink system with one of the newer GDOs, you will need a repeater. From what I can tell, the repeater receives the older HomeLink signals, and re-transmits to the GDO using the newer system.
In any case, the programming instructions in the Saab manuals cover ONLY the programming of the HomeLink mirror to act like a GDO remote. They do NOT cover the required programming of the HomeLink to the GDO receiver.
