Oh, it's not THAT difficult to program...
Homelink setup is a one-step or two-step process, depending on your GDO (Garage Door Opener). Old systems (pre-90s), that were programmed by DIP switches are one-step, and newer systems with rolling codes require two steps.
For both, you program the Homelink to act like one of your remotes. With the DIP switch one, you're now done, and can use the GDO via HomeLink.
With a Rolling Code GDO, you now have to tell the GDO that there's a new remote in town, aka your Homelink mirror. This process is dependent on your GDO.
Of course, in 2011, the GDO makers came out with a totally new system, incompatible with Homelink unless you buy a "repeater" for your GDO...
