2.8T engine differences, FWD vs XWD? Posted by Chadwick [Email] (#569) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Chadwick) on Tue, 10 Dec 2013 18:10:12 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
First 2.8T with a bad engine I've seen is in the shop. Bottom end has a nasty knock and timing chain has noise. Customer didn't keep up with OC's. Turbo return line also completely clogged. Car is a 2008 9-3 Aero XWD A/T, 130k.
When trying to find a used engine, there are separate part numbers listed for the 2.8T XWD engine and FWD 2.8T. Also, the 2006 2.8T FWD has a different part number than the 07-09 2.8T FWD. '08-'09 2.8T XWD have the same PN. Output seems the same HP wise on all engines.
Any clue on the differences? The price differentials are huge and the XWD engines are much more difficult to find.
Thanks!
