Been a few days with no answer, so I'll try...
Speedometer signal is generated based on at least one of the ABS wheel sensors - I think it might be right-rear. So I don't think there's a physical VSS sensor attached to the transmission. And your ABS/TCS error doesn't necessarily mean that the ECU cannot read that wheel sensor.
