Pretty common actually. I have one locally that spedo plus while updating radio bluetooth.. Then brand new factory gauge offset negative every boot.. On its latest battery change it was the tach. Its a problem.
Sometimes you can arc the battery a fe times until it parks the needle correctly. This can make all sorts of other problems though. What worked too was taking the dash apart and carefully moving the needle to the park position and letting it reboot. You will know when its right.
