CD Changer Skipping Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Mon, 13 Feb 2017 12:27:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My wife mentioned awhile back that her CD player was skipping. She had disks in 5 of the 6 slots, so I inserted a cleaning disk in the open slot back in December, followed the cleaning directions, the disk completed its cleaning cycle then switched to its integrated music track for audio confirmation that the cleaning was accomplished.
The audio track sounded great so I thought it was a job well done.
Last week my wife mentioned again that her CD's weren't playing right so I tested them. Sure enough, they skip just as you would expect a dirty disk or dirty player to sound.
So, I know that I need to eject the 5 disks which have been loaded for months (maybe years?) and clean each one. Then use the cleaning disk again to re-clean the playback head.
Do I need to place the cleaning disk in all 6 slots and cycle each slot?
Is there some other issue which can cause the intermittent skipping?
We first noticed this when using "Books on CD" checked out from the public library for long drives, but the skipping did not extend to her music disks at that time. We have learned over time that pretty much every disk from the Library, CD or DVD, needs cleaning before use.
