Yes but be forewarned Posted by TimN [Email] (#2379) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TimN) on Sat, 24 Jun 2017 07:10:25 In Reply to: Should I buy a Saab 9-3 Conv. ..?, LittleBear, Thu, 22 Jun 2017 23:58:50 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
As having had Saab convertibles: '97 900, '99 9-3, '08 9-3 and a 1994 CE convertible. I can affirm that they are great cars (except maybe the '97 900). The '99 9-3 had 233K miles on it and still ran fantastic. The 2008 is outstanding as well but like most, needed to have the valves replaced.
The big warning is that the '99 9-3 top completely failed with unfixable timing error codes, the '97 top needed replacing, and now the '08 tonneau cover is showing problems. This is expensive to repair if you can even find a Saab mechanic willing to try.
The '94 top is simple and my Saab mechanic tells me that they are practically bullet proof.
I love having the top down but you have to realize that they will fail at some point. What I don't know is the reliability of other brands. They may be just the same.
