Re: Tools. The steel key buried inside the plastic part of the key is the exact perfect size for loosening those plastic latches. No need to hunt under the seat for a loose quarter!
As for substituting a different size battery: I have done this once on a 9-5 - It was the night before my seasonal migration, and I needed to attach my car dolly to tow the convertible back North. The problem you have is not the specs on the battery but getting it to fit in the battery compartment. I needed to trim some parts of the case away to get it to fit and I needed to modify the hold down to get it to - er - hold down the battery. Unless the size 40 will fit and mount the same as the factory size, do yourself a favor and buy a new one. But if it fits and you already own it, don't worry about the slightly lower CCA rating.
