If lenght is your concern, then order shorter 11in springs with the same rating. This would place your height at 1 in lower than mine, which is stock. Do you have a wagon too?
Or easier, order 12in springs with 250 or 275 rating... Then you'll be the guinea pig for us all...
Last thing about the mounts. XWD rear mounts are taller and beefier for a good reason: the whole XWD suspension is higher by 10mm than a FWD-Aero. and i don't even consider the 225/50 (XWD) in lieu of the 235/45 (FWD) that are taller too.
You may not know this, but the XWD upper strut mounts in front (13188764) are 10 mm thicker than the FWD's (13188763). Same appearance, but thicker. So the XWD rear mounts are 10 mm thicker too. I hope the previous owner did replace the 4 mounts since it would have been a 10 mm drop for a very small amount of money...
The mounts are aluminium, not easy to beef up. See 12778198 (XWD, 42$US or 12796037 (FWD, 40$US OEM, or 30$ jobber part). Fractured mounts are surely the result of undertorqued bolts, as the threaded holes in the chassis are not blind and get very dirty from road grime. Clean the bolts on a bench grinder and the rethread the holes with a tap, and torque to spec. This should do the trick.
