Seems like this should be easy ....
Changing a drive shaft on a 2005 9-3SS, Calif car so no rust. To get the lower control control arm off the wheel assembly I obviously removed the clamp bolt and with a pry bar I can get the shaft on the ball joint most of the way out but not quite all the way. It seems to want to spring back in place.
I even tried jacking up the brake rotor slightly to unload it more. I'm nervous about damaging the ball joint rubber wailing on it too much.
What is the trick. I was thinking perhaps a big wooden wedge driven in between the control arm and the CV?
This sure seemed like it should be the easy part! Anyone have a favorite trick?
