rear wiper stopped 1/3 way up glass - fix Posted by Pete [Email] (#2000) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Pete) on Tue, 5 May 2020 19:50:35 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
rear wiper stopped 1/3 up way glass. Removed motor and long plastic cap covering the wiper arm actuating shaft. It was filled with white crud from corrosion. Removed the black plastic backing assembly off the motor assembly. Put the wiper fastening nut back on the shaft-threads to protect the end of the shaft while smacking it with a hammer (to remove the wiper arm shaft from the assembly). Used brake cleaner and qtips to clean the long shaft bushing. Regreased the bushing and shaft. Smacked the shaft back into place (went in much easier than removal), and filled the long plastic cap with grease before putting back over the shaft. (I would have preferred vaseline). Reinstalled, all working! HTH
