The b207 and b284 are some of the longest lasting ever offered on a Saab in my experience. Four customers with over 250k on original, one is 389k on a 03 Sport Sedan. On the other side, a customer with a 2008 9-3 2.0 needs a new clutch kit and flywheel every 50-65k since she takes off at 2500rpm from a start each time. Mind you, this is Florida not the hills of San Fran.
Due to design of a dual mass flywheel that machine shops will not resurface, must replace the flywheel at the same time. A 207 clutch job runs north of $2k all in (clutch kit, flywheel, axle seals, rear main seal, bolt sets for plate and flywheel, trans fluid, labor and an alignment) while a 2.8L v6 adds another $750.
Its always less expensive however than buying a unknown used or new vehicle. Never understood the mindset of not fixing your vehicle for $2-3k when the "book value" is similar. Scrap or sell your old car for $200, then run out and buy a replacement vehicle where the taxes and fees are more $ than the avoided repair. Much less the instant depreciation of a $30k+ vehicle. (As long as the vehicle is still reasonably roadworth in regards to rust etc)
