Welp- Starting with the basics is ALWAYS good...
Did a thorough engine cleaning so I could carefully check all the various vacuum lines and intake plumbing as per everyone's suggestions. It was actually pretty darn clean but the nooks and crannies needed degreasing and the whole thing was pretty dusty. Everything looked and felt good.
Then took Bernie's (and others) advice and installed a set of properly gapped PFR6T plugs. Decided install the ECU spacer kit since I was in there and I also wanted to double check the lines under the throttle body and contact clean all the connectors in that area.
So I'm thinking I want to disconnect the intake pipe that connects to the throttle body just to make a bit more room for the ECU spacer install and... Welp- it's not clamped on. At all. It's in place, but it's just sitting on the TB stub. So, yeah. The same shop that charged HUGE $$ for some recent repairs (the one that didn't tighten the (incorrect) #1 plug at all) apparently forgot to tighten the clamp on the intake elbow. Fingers crossed that their blunder(s) will correct the crazy drivability issues and codes...
Finished the ECU spacer install, buttoned everything up, reconnected the battery and... Voila'!
No codes. She's a happy, smooth, powerful 9-3 Arc. So stoked/ relieved.
Thanks all for the recommendations and tips- Highly appreciated!
Glad my first experience with a 9-3 was a learning one and not a disaster :)
