Anders,
I remember that visit well! We were on our move to California. We visited my mother-in-law in SoCal before finally going to our new place in the San Francisco Bay Area. We lost the rear brakes coming into Moab, UT and we nursed the car to your shop. You saved the say with some "pre-owned" brake lines. And I'm sure since they came from So-Cal they were in like-new condition. I didn't realize your shop was so new at the time. You were always "SAABNet Famous", right?
A few years later that 900 blew a shock rear shock tower due to rust. I had to take it to several shops to finally find one to weld it up. I'm sure in Sweden that was a common enough repair. It was certainly common enough in the eastern USA. But in rust-free Northern California, no mechanic liked that old 900! I ended up selling that car for $1000. It is "one that got away". 1990 SPG for $1000! I loved that car.
Here's a question for the 2011 SAAB. One key I got is working fine. The second key had the gummy buttons and one button was missing. The key batter was also dead.
I got a new key case and transferred the circuit board from the old to the new key. And I put a new battery in it. When I reassembled the key the car alarm went crazy. I pulled the battery and put it together again. So far, so good. The 2nd key buttons lock and unlock the car OK. BUT the key will NOT start the car. I put it in and I hear a "click" to unlock the steering. But I can't turn the key. I don't get any error messages on the car. For example, when I put my finger in the key slot I get a message. So I'm wondering how to make key #2 work to start the car. Any ideas?
I hope all is well for you - and here's to a great 2024 for you!
Gott nytt år!
Randy
