I think thats what it is from the description I've read (quoted below)
Also, I'm trying to clean that out. However, I can't figure out how to remove the wiring harness...
---------------------
Purge valve is located on the right side of the engine compartment. It is just a couple inches in size. Located across from the sert belt. It has a tube coming in one side and out the other(also wiring harness).
Its function is to take gasses (from the charcoal cannister which came from the gas tank) and send them to the motor to be burned. It releases the gasses when the motor is under load.
Symptoms:
1. Misc. idle surge at stops. Not all the time but some times. (even with AC off)
2. A ticking sounds only heard in cabin with windows up. Always after engine has some warmth in it.
I read some others here have cleaned the purge valve before having to buy a new one. ($70US on line) (local dealer quoted $250 Canadian)
What I did:
1. Removed purge valve.
2. Took 9v battery to it's terminals to listen to click. It gave a very slight single tick when powered.
3. Sprayed WD40 in both sides letting it drain out. Then sprayed again letting the WD40 sit inside for 10 min.
4. Repeated step 3.
5. Sprayed again letting in drain out for final time.
6. Shook out as much WD40 out of valve as I could. Dried off and let sit for 20 min.
7. Applied 9v battery and could here TWO nice clicks. One when power applied and one when power removed.
8. Reinstalled.
