There is no such thing. This function is virtual and performed by the DI cassette. Could be DI is faulty.
How many miles on your red DI?
New one is a bit over $300 from eeuroparts.com. The DIs all fail in time. So get one now anyways, or wait for failure and wait and pay for tow truck and pay dealer cost for DI + diagnostics + labor + taxes.. or take a few minutes to install your spare from the trunk.
A DIs fail, if they make it to around 100K, it is sudden death and stink of burnt epoxy. If you leave ignition or, or the tow truck operator leaves it on, the harness to the DI can (rarely) melt or flame. If DI goes bad at lower miles, it gets flakey and causes problems but still runs. if misfiring and you keep driving, the cat can fail. If sudden death at speed the cat can die fast from that burst of unburnt air/fuel.
If you have that code only and things seem otherwise ok, the ECU has aquired the cam timing or its would not be running. Once running, no problem. Getting the cam timing is a startup thing.
All things DI can be messed up with the incorrect plugs or out of gap and/or fouled-dammaged. So, as with any running problems, always pull your plugs and read them, regap or replace as a first recourse.
