I once knew a whiny tranny, but that's another story. I'd just leave it alone. This sounds like one of these problems that you likely will never solve no matter how hard you try. You'll blow a lot of money trying to fix it to no avail. In one my first Saabs, a noise similar to the cry of a crow would come from behind the front passenger seat whenever I turned on my wipers. I spend over $800 trying to get to the bottom of it (I even called Sweeden), but never could find an answer.
