It's all a piece of the pie..... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Wed, 8 Dec 2004 13:59:11 In Reply to: 2004 Incentives, Kevin B., Tue, 7 Dec 2004 17:10:30 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
You can look at it that way, sure, but most of the time the Saab incentive is many, many times what the dealer can do for you out of their slice of the pie, so it's hard to seperate the two. It' definitely makes sense to be sure of the incentive on the Saab you are dealing on. Ask your local sales person, most of the time they'll come clean.
Saab incentives are from Saab, but the dealer doesn't get them until long after the car has been invoiced and paid for by the dealer. Only when it's sold do the incentives come back to the dealer. So if you pay cash for 2004 9-5 Aero with a $6,000 incentive, the dealer is in the hole for the $6k incentive for awhile.
Advertised Saab leases require dealer participation. That is the dealer must give all the incentives, rates, acquisition fees away, these are important profit centers for other makes, and then give a big, big chunk of the normal profit too.
Remember Saab leases are the best overall deal as they combine generous incentives AND super low money rates. Big trunk money and cheap (lease) money combined, BMW speak. On some cars like 2005 9-3 Linears and 2004 Aeros the lease incentives is $1,000-2,000 more than the purchase incentive and still combined with a super low rate.
Some dealers feel the incentives are private, which in fact they are as that makes them pre tax, and will play dumb if you don't ask for them or aren't aware.
Slice it anyway you want, it's all a piece of the same pie.
