I have read two postings on the Motorcraft FL-400S (available at Walmart) will fit and work on a 4cyl turbo Saab. I decided to do my own research on purolator's web site. I looked up first a Pure one for a 2003 9-5 Linear 2.3t and it was a PL10241 The specs copied and pasted from the web site.
Specifications
Anti-Drain Back Valve: Yes
Height: 3.36
Type of Filter: Spin-on
Threads: 3/4-16
Thread Pitch: UNF-2B
Relief Valve P.S.I.: 12-17
O.D.: 2.98
Then I looked up a 1999 Ford Windstar with a 3.8L engine. I use to own one and used the Motorcraft filters in it. They have silcone anti- drain back valves The specs are cut and pasted as follows.
Specifications PL20195
Anti-Drain Back Valve: Yes
Height: 4.74
Type of Filter: Spin-on
Threads: 3/4-16
Thread Pitch: UNF-2B
Relief Valve P.S.I.: 12-15
O.D.: 2.98
The official puro one specs say they are compatible and you will have more filter media and oil capacity with the latter filter. My thanks to the ones that pointed me this way. I was affraid to try this without the facts as many may be. Access the facts for yourself.
