The soot is burning off and the specs of white on the end face of the plug body indicates that the deposits on metal are getting hot enough to burn off. As all of that is effectively water cooled, that does suggest that the deposits are thick enough to get that hot. And that can create some increased octane demand or retard of timing. So I have to ask, when was Techron Concentrate last used on this vehicle?
Perhjaps the ass specs would be gone with some agressive driving which might physically displace the ash, or simply obscure it with more or deaper soot.
The T7 does run things cleaner than the T5.
So that is a 6ES plug? A T7 might run well and get less electrode wear. Fo r some folks the T7 might not stay clean enough.
Your wife's ride; perhaps she is not heavy on the throttle and on boost soot deposits are not what you and I would create.
