You should have the radio code on hand, because you will need to re-enter it. You may (or may not) need to re-train the remotes - no biggie. If the remote suddenly doesn't work, don't panic. Standing near the car, just press the button three or four times. After a few times, the car will respond by locking or unlocking. This may not be necessary, but it's nice to know. Same thing if you replace the remote battery, by the way.
And yes, always remove the ground side of the battery first. Why? Because if you bridge the contacts on a battery, sparks, heat, and possibly fire can result. Not pretty. When the ground side is connected, the entire chassis and engine, most metal bits in the area, are ground. If you lay wrench on the positive side first, any slip of the wrench, and chances are you'll hit chassis. Sparks and mayhem ensue. However, if you undo the negative side first, all you need to worry about is not hitting the positive post. If you hit chassis, no big deal. After removing the negative lead, you can remove the positive lead, and not worry about hitting chassis.
