The Audi has a better perceived build quality then the SAAB.
The SAAB might make some slight squeaks and so on...

But if you start looking and mechanical dependability
the 9-5 does better then a A4 which does better then
a A6. This shows up in a lot of reports from a lot
of independent agancies (ie. consumer reports)

I would also suggest you look at http://www.audiworld.com,
there are many people that have had numerous problems
(I know quite a few in Europe) with their 2.7L Twin
Turbo engines. Turbo failures being one big problem
as well as boost control and asymmetric surges where
one turbo will work much harder then the other. OUCH

The best A4 and A6 models are those that use the
simpler 1.8L Turbo or the 2.8L V6. The regular
V6 engine being very good.

Even so, the 1.8L Turbo from VAG is not nearly as
developed as the 2.3L Turbo from SAAB. The VAG engine
uses a tiny intercooler and everythng is build
with not all too much margins in mind.

I did like the old inline 5 Turbo engines from
Audi... while these as 2V Turbo where good, they
has some serious Turbo Lag. But they would last
a while.

One more thing here... the 2.7L Turbo from Audi
is a LOW Pressure Turbo engine while the SAAB uses
a High Pressure Turbo 2.3L engine in the Aero that
has combustion control enabling SAAB to compensate
a lot better for altitude... a thing the Audi engines
lack cause they only use a air mass meter and they
can't detect the lower oxygen level at altitude.

In the end, buy the car you like best cause its you
who will be driving it!
