Was struggling with the decision to buy my 2002 Aero 5 speed off lease but after getting hit pretty hard on an interstate on-ramp last night I'm appreciating the safety factor of the car. While heading up the on-ramp on a snowy night I had to slow/stop for a pick-up truck that had gone sideways at the top of the ramp. The van behind me hit me pretty hard as I think he was looking for oncoming traffic as opposed to me right in front of him. It was icy so I;ll give him the benefit of the doubt. My back bumper with the associated back-up sensors was trashed..my seat belt is acting strangely and the air-bag light is on. The car is at the shop now but we are thankfully fine. I was able to see him coming but it wasn't fun getting whacked from behind. I'm thankful we weren't in my wife's Audi A4..it would have been more painful I think. Now we'll see how much the repairs are and I'll have to decide whether I want to buy a car with an accident 'history' but the safety factor of the car is now more evident in my mind and if not this car maybe an Aero wagon..my wife's totally 'on-board' at this point!!
