I picked up a new 9-5 Aero tonight (Midnight Blue/Beige/BBS/manual trans) and love the car!! Got home to show off to the wife and take her to dinner. I put the trans into reverse and shut off the car and removed the key. The wife came out and loved the new car. We got in the car to go out to dinner and I put the key in tha ignition and started it. Pulled up on the reverse lockout ring and pushed all the way to the right and back. Released the clutch and the car went FORWARD. I am sure that I am lifting the lockout correctly. If I was not in reverse I should not be able to remove the key but I can. I am going back to the dealer tomorrow morning but thought I would check here first. I have been driving manual trans for over 25 years and I am sure I am doing it correctly. I think getting the key to come out of the ignition switch proves that I am in reverse. Is there some secret handshake I need to know about to get into reverse besides lifting the lockout ring? Also the reverse lights do not come on with the engine on and shiter into reverse. What you you think?? The car seems to be fine in forward and I am planning to drive to my dealer early tomorrow morning.
