Last year around January I had one DI fail me on a '99 95 without warning on the highway. And wouldn't you know that right after purchasing a replacement '01 95 Wagon on Saturday in a snow storm the same thing happened. Having been through it once I knew exactly what happened. No warning...just loss of power, power steering, and eventually the engine dies out. Not fun at highway speeds, but hey... The key sign was the scent of burnt electricity a la electric trains and the DI cassette smoking upon examination. Last year the tow truck driver that rescued me was weaving a web of torched electronics and thousands of dollars of repairs and even had the gaul to mention a seized engine to my girlfriend (hysterical). The technology reads great and seems to function great when in top shape, but it just seems to bad that there isn't a lag time between burn out and complete failure. And I don't consider one rough start a sign living in the North East.
