I am in the process of doing my front brakes and rotors now, 02 9-5 aero.
EBC pads and new SAAB rotors.
Having not done this before, I studied many posts here searching procedure and tools.
So, I started it last weekend.
Jacked up car - took off wheel - compressed back the caliper piston to open up brake pads.
NOTE - special tool required - not readily available.
For rotors replacement first - I started to remove the caliper housing (mounting) bolts and found they are star pattern. They are size E20 and fit to a 16mm 6 point socket, deciding I needed to have the star socket instead of using the 6 point socket which would most likely round the corners off the star pattern bolt thus cause me a world of hurt.
I went to, or called, a total of 4 auto stores but could not find the E20 star socket. Have now special ordered it.
So, needless to say put tire on and will try again after I get the star socket.
Anyways, having not done it before - seems to me a pretty easy process if you have all the tools ready.

Good luck.
