If you just replace the timing belt and not the hardware then you might as well start looking for a new car. It is not economical to pay a dealer to repair a 5 year old Saab with 24 bent valves and busted valve guides, in addition to bent rods and damaged piston crowns.
A friend who took the "free 60K belt replacement" on his 2000 9-5 has just destroyed his engine at 96K miles when the lower guide roller came apart with no warning, the dealer wanted to replace the tensioners for the hardware cost plus an additional $100 labor, and the idiot said "no".
I took the heads off for him and it's not a pretty sight, at least half the valves are bent and a lot of guides are broken. Just for good measure, two of the camshafts have broken in half from the impact of the pistons hitting the valves. A couple of pistons have big enough dents that they need replacement and I would be supprised if these rods are not bent.
The only economical repair is to replace the motor with a used unit, we found a 40K V6 motor for $3500. This will be a $7000 job, about what the car is worth in good condition at auction. This is not a Saab issue, but rather a generic problem with belt driven engines. The Audi/VW V6 is worse than the GM/Vauxhall V6 for self destruction.
