I am considering tuning my '01 185 also. Talke briefly with Abbott's U.S. distributor (who was on vacation, but nice enough to call). He told me he expects to try the 'o1 upgrade for the first time next week. Said it works in Euro versions of the car, but sometimes these things need a tweek to work for U.S. models. He said he would be in touch late next week with test results.
Also talked with Chip Center's U.S. rep (owns an independednt Saab repair shop in NJ) who said one of his customers just replaced an Abbott with CCs because of even better performance. (Who knows?)
My biggest worry is potential loss of warranty. The CC guy told me most dealers can't tell unless you tell them, but then said he is aware of a NJ dealer that has een picky about this issue. I'm leaning towards waiting a year or two to make sure there aren't any major problems with the car (Just got it a month ago), and then doing an upgrade. By then, Saab may even offer one.
I'd be interested in your thoughts about the warranty risk.
