I was driving on the interstate today and pressed the accelerator to change lanes when I heard a pop/thump sound. I think all the dash warning lights came on just after that. I did not seem to lose speed but could not gain speed either. I limped across 4 lanes of traffic and made it to the emergency lane. It seemed like the car still wanted to go forward while in Drive but I don't think my foot was on the accelerator. I turned the car off. I tried to restart but it would not crank. Any ideas? The car was towed to my Saab mechanic but I don't think he can look at it until Wednesday.
1999 9-5 V6 80k miles, timing belt changed at 60k. No other major issues. I'm worried a belt has blown the engine but that is only based on previous comments I've seen here. Could it be a throttle issue? Thank you for your help.
