A mixing flap may have gotten stuck and/or broken. Tell her, when the AC system is off, to press the OFF AND AUTO buttons simultaneously. That will put the system into a self test / calibration mode. At the end it will report any error codes. A good system will return '0 at the left side of the AAC display' A band system will display the number of errors at the left side of the display, and the error codes on the right side. If she gets NO errors, that would indicate the mechanics are working fine, which could point to a coolant leak.
If your lucky, the calibration might unstick a mixing flap and it'll work again - happened like that for me a year ago. Eventually though the AC system will probably need to be fixed. Do a search on '08 errors' and you'll find many posts.
