In the front passenger footwell, first remove the cover by your left foot that held on by three plastic rivets. Then remove the panel below the glovebox (4 Torx-head screws), and then remove the glovebox (6? Torx-head screws). There are two stepping motors on the right-hand side of the air distribution unit and they're located next to each other. The one I replaced was the lower one which has a cover over it marked with an "R" and maybe a white line painted through it. The other stepping motor isn't covered so you see it easily. Two screws (#2 Philips or 6mm nut driver) hold the motor in place and a 6-pin electric connector. Once you remove the two screw just pull the motor straight out. You'll feel a little resistance but that's just flap pressure against the shaft.

The motor shaft is keyed so lift the flap linkage arm to make sure the motor line's up as your pushing it in. It's hard to explain but will be obvious when you're doing it. You'll also need to transfer the motor cover from the old one to the new one - very easy. Once the new motor is installed, plug in the connector, and run the calibration again a couple more times to make sure no codes appear. Install glovebox, panel, cover, and smile at the money and time you just saved from taking it to a dealer.

I would have put together something more formal with pics but didn't think of it until after the job was completed and I tossed to bad motor in the garbage. Stepping motor part number is 5172580. Hope this helped.
