If the radio is sitting tight then the DIN tool (a.k.a. Ford tool) will release the locks but will not allow to apply enough pulling force to dislodge the unit. With my modified tool (notice a second notch after the main 45 degree slope) the tool will firmly grab the radio and can be used to pull it out. In fact, the only way to remove the tool once it clicks into place is by pulling out the whole stereo.
