Not to infer that I could correct what Saab engineers did not. But it does make you wonder when you see a torque mount with designed movement and play, none of which I have ever seen in a Saab or any other automobile with FWD and transverse mounted drive train. The old boat trailer syndrome does occur "when play exist in a moving body a thump is naturally going to occur when the limit is reached" no mater how much slotted rubber you put to absorb it on each side. My old 92 9000 top mounted "Dog bone" torque rod had zero play and it had a smooth idle. Matter of fact you knew it when you needed to replace it when it split the mount rubber. My two desires to major in college were Mechanical Engineering and Accounting. Well I am a CPA with a lot of mechanical curiosity and a love to work on my on cars. I do not like it when manufactures force me to go to dealers for simple adjustments(idle). I have the ultimate dealer car for 1 year. The infamous Volvo S80 and I have it no more. Microsoft built that car. It needed rebooting regularly. Thanks for the advice.
