Looking at a spec sheet and tabulating a bunch of items of features, then deciding to call it "deconteing" can be misleading. Do the 2005 cars with those slightly smaller and solid rear brakes stop any worse than the earlier cars? Probably not, since in a front wheel drive car the fronts do a majority of the work.
If saab were to all of a sudden remove the little vent opening in the glove box that allows them to advertise it as an air conditioned glovebox, would you say it is "decontenting"? Chances are just about everyone's glove box is full of all the regular stuff we keep in there, and has never been used to keep a drink or a sandwich cold. The little mesh thingys on the pilar between the doors? Umbrella holder? I think not! And , no way are my $350 prescription sunglasses getting stuck there so they can accidentally fall out and on the ground.
My point is that a lot of this is chicken sh-t. Overall, the car is better in a lot more ways than when it went into production, and a lot of these minute things that get mentioned here are not even things that people really use.
One item that they tried to delete, and had to bring back( if only as an option) was the heated rear seat. Le's see how many people will complain to Saab abouot the cargo net or umbrella holders.
