Remember at the Aero Academy when we did the slalom course? We drove three Aeros, all with different tires. One had new Pirelli P-Zero Rosso tires. One had worn Pirelli P-Zero Rosso tires. One had "new" unworn, Michelin Pilot tires. The Michelins had been sitting in the hot warehouse in Atlanta for two years. So, technically they were new, but the rubber had already aged and changed. The tread looked perfect. The results were amazing. The "new" Michelins were terrible, much worse than the worn or the new Pirellis. Hard driving frequently required the ESP system to engage.
This course taught me just what Dean says. Don't go cheap on tires. Buy the right size, and buy high performance for your high performance automobile.
Dennis
PS - I am now a big fan of the Pirelli P-Zero Nero M+S tires. They are not any less expensive than the Rossos, but I really like the all around performance.
