The Abbott unit ( expensive) is only a "clipped" Garrett LPT ( 15 I think) This allows more flow, Many Trubo rebuild shops ( cheaper)can do this for you. Check the performance board. there are many threads on donig ( or not doing) this
You have to decide if you want more top end ( highway HP )or low end ( early torque launchin power) The smaller housing of the LPT unit gets the boost up quicker but chokes it off at the top end.
The trade off has to be decided. I have the same issue and every day I think about one over the other. I guess when I am on the highway and want to pass at 80 I wish I had teh bigger unit, but off the line trying to beat a ricer to the merge, my Satge III ECU + 3" DP (Thanks Nick) does the trick ( even thought the little torbo has buffed teh blue smoke for 60K miles ( 30K with the new ECU set-up)
