It's an easy DIY job once you pull the motor from the car. I did mine over 1.5 years ago - no problem since.

Here is the repost:

Blower motor is under big plastic (aquarium) cover, which goes from side to side under viper blades. Most difficult for me was to remove the viper arms. Hummer method worked for me after all (spray WD-40, unscrew viper arms bolt a little bit and then carefully hummer the joints (over top of that bolt) thru some peace of wood). After you remove the cover the rest is obvious.

Regards the motor itself:

My motor started working intermittently and then would start only on cold start or not start at all. At first I attempted to clean under the brushes with electronic circuit board cleaner spray, as it was cowered by graphite dust, but it helped only temporarily.

The brushes. In my case they were worn out by 75-85%. Replacement of brushes is very easy and straightforward, since you have the motor in your hands.
I couldn’t find an exact replacement for brushes so I end up buying the closest ones ($5) from local Alternator/Starter repair shop (take only ones for alternator, as they designed for continuous work). Then carefully sand them to the size and shape of the originals. May seem like a lot of work, but it’s not that bad as the brushes are very soft.

Brushes are rectangles in section 8x9(or10?) mm in section. No longer than 2 centimeters. Cupper lead wire connected to the brush on the 8 mm side. I can’t remember exact measurements, but you will have your old ones to compare with.

One more thing: you will need a soldering iron to reconnect brushes’ leads to the blower’s circuit board.
