Clunk when manouvering with full lock - RESOLVED!

A few days back I posted a problem I've been experiencing for a while regarding a clunk I get every morning when I reverse my car down the gentle incline of my driveway and turn the wheels to a hard lock to do a 90 degree swing backwards out onto the road.
Dealer wasn't too interested so I got Saab involved. They advised straight away that there is in fact a Technical Bulletin addressing these symptoms. I was told that the fix involves replacement of the front wheel bearings (under warranty) which, on a run of vehicles identified by the VIN, apparently come adrift and begin to move in their housings, knocking against the steering knuckle. Does that make sense? Having finally had the dealer replace and regrease the bearings under warranty (apparently with a 'modified grease') I am happy to say my clunk has now completely disappeared - for now.
I noticed that Alcoop (26 Sept, below) has also identified the bearings as a cause. I didn't get my stub axles replaced though, so I'm hoping it's not going to become a recurring problem.
Hope this is of interest to LHD, Mark in Houston and Chad, who replied to my post back on September 10.
Regards to all,
Harley
