I just experienced the same problem today when I decided to change the oil in my 02 Aero. The dealer mechanic must have used an air wrench on it last time. Part of the blame lies with Saab in sticking with the old style copper washer plug design. I've had to re-tighten it in the past to stop oil dripping and I'm sure the dealer doesn't want any complaints about leaks. My 97 F150 has an o-ring face seal type plug and has never leaked or been replaced in 150K miles!
Anyway, I cranked on the plug as hard as I could with a 6 point socket, then box end wrench and cheater pipe, then vise grips and hammer (I don't own air tools). The plug didn't budge, but the head was almost completely rounded off. I was steaming mad until I remembered seeing a bolt removal tool at Sears. I bought a set of Craftsman Bolt-Outs and had the plug out in 2 minutes using a 3/4" box wrench with a cheater pipe to drive the #8 Bolt-Out. Trust me when I say these things work! They dig into the damaged head so hard, you have to use a punch to separate them afterward and the gripping edges look good as new.
