Even with rotating them back to front, I chewed up several sets of rear tires on my 1999 9-5 until I got the opinion from a fellow Saab enthusiast who has owned 40+ Saabs. He's convinced that the factory specified negative camber for the rear alignment is wrong and thus, the major contributor to inner edge tire wear. This assumes that your alignment shop gets the toe-in correct first. Most shops go by the alignment specs supplied by the alignment equipment manufacturer, who takes them directly from the auto manufacturers. I had this stated by my inquiry to a Hunter alignment representative. Every alignment shop I've tried has listed the rear camber as non-adjustable, but the Saab WIS shop manual does indicate the use of metal shims to correct this. I finally forked over $36 to a Saab dealer for 4 rear shims and installed them myself. The camber looks somewhat less negative and I need to try the Saab dealer for the first time to recheck the alignment. I'm hoping my newest pair of Bridgestone Potenza's won't end up looking like Flintsone wheels this time!!!
