I researching the 'ipod' conundrum, I'm coming to a few conclusions:
1. If I hack into the CD changer feed, I lose audio when the CD stops/changes discs.
2. If I hack the weather band, I lose Wx altogether (not that I use it, but I don't like that option).
3. If I hack the tape preamp signal, I have to always have a tape playing.
SO: Why not just pull out the radio, remove the faceplate, and run the wire for the tape cassette adapter behind the radio faceplate?
This would seem like the easiest way to create a 'clean' install without deactivating anything or modifying the circuit boards/wiring and tampering with the functionality or even the warranty for that matter. Removing the mod involves nothing more than cutting the wire and pulling it out. Installation is a matter of slippng the wire behind the faceplate, leaving just enough slack to 'eject' the tape if necessary.
For those who never use a cassette, this seems to be the simplest and most ideal solution.
So can the wire be run fromteh cassette box out the side of the unit, behind the faceplate?
Thanks in advance for any insight, or any updates on the ipod integration struggle.
PS - I don't surrently own a 9-5 but will be buying one shortly, and have owned a few 900's in the past.
