My poor 2001 Saab 9-5 Aero already needs help!
I just relocated from the San Francisco Bay Area to San Diego (miss SFBay already and am planning to return someday). Anyway one advantage here is the much cheaper apartment market offering more amenities. So the new apartment has a two car garage unit half of which we use for storage and I was parking in the other half. One day on the way home from work at the new firm I had the music up (the stereo really kicks ass I think) and so I wans't paying attention and didn't quite negotiate the sharp turn to get into the garage and wound up scraping the right rear quarter against the garage door opening. Thankfully I scraped wood and not concrete.
Anyway I now need to fix the dents. No actual scratching of the cars metal (other than what I buffed out with polish) but the right rear door seems to have pressed against the door beam (which now shows through the metal) and the rear wheel well molding has been pressed in. Anyone got a good recommendation as to who I should see to fix this? I got an estimate of around $640 from a Maaco down here. I don't know if that's a good price or not and I'm not sure how good they'd be with my Swedish import. I lease the car and plan to buy it at lease end but it breaks my heart every time I see the dents. Perhaps someone on this board also lives in the San Diego area and has a good reccomendation.
Also I know this has been discussed but I haven't been on this board in a month so I thought I'd ask. What about oil changes? I heard somewhere they say the 9-5s only need them every 5,000 miles. Is that true? And if so are people getting the dealerships to perform the the servive or sticking with Jiffy Lubes and other places. I am over 4,000 miles and it's hard to fight the urge to have the oil changed everytime I pass by a place. I also wonder about this synthetic versus non-synthetic discussion I've seen here a few times.
Any ideas are appreciated.
