Larry,
I have had this dilemma over the past few months. After looking at the various deals out there, I decided that if you are wanting to own a 9-5 sedan or wagon for more than six years, then the best way to go is to lease the car and then buy the car after three years on the residual price. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but basically with a lease that you plan to buy in the end, you are not paying any interest on the car during the major depreciation years and then if you finance the residual (about 18,000) for three or four years you are saving quite a bit on interest over the years. You are also paying less (a couple of thousand) for the car because of the depreciation factored into the residual. This (in my convoluted math) really seems like the best way to go, unless they extend the 0% interest deal to the 9-5.
Good Luck,
Chris
