Both of you have been most helpful and have given me the info I really needed and then some. In my personal life I do field service on medical lasers, but don't know too much about cars, but there are many similarities in regards to the "service" side of each business. All I need to know is "How it works" because my motto is knoweledge is power!

I have an early year 03 Aero that just had a software upgrade to help with the tranny, but shortly after that I started getting the CEL. It turned out to be the IDM which got replaced at 100k. The IDM version is 3.6, so I guess I am good to go, although I got screwed on the cost of the part. My Saab mechanic has the Tech II and has a "master" status with Saab, it is all he works on and I do like and trust him, but the dealer's service writers are sneaky and they have lied to me once too often. I wish I could find a good indy in my area.
