annoying "pop" ?

I have a 2001 9-5 SE wagon. Recently when applying the brakes, I get what I would describe as a "pop" at the brake pedal. It feels as tho there might be a spring attached to the pedal and it is moving on its anchor. But I don't see any spring. My 2nd thought was perhaps 1 of the pistons in the master cylinder was hanging up and releasing--transmitting the delayed movement to the pedal. It only happens when hitting the brakes after a period of non-use---such as sitting overnite or moving into traffic after being on the hiway. This is leading me to think possibly a vacuum problem or it is taking time for the brake fluid to flow back in the master cylinder. Brakes are fine--fluid was changed about a yr ago. There doesn't appear to be any safety issue--it's just annoying. Anyone have any thoughts on this ? Car is a CPO and still under warranty.
