I bought a 2001 9-5 Sedan with V6 about a month ago and I like it a lot. Like yours it has lots of mileage, 160k. Payed $5,000 because the owner had repairs which the dealer quoted at about $3,000. With a bluebook value of about $8,000 he subtracted the reapirs and it was sitting in my driveway. He wasn't a DIY-er but my father and I are. We payed about $150 for front pads and rotors which we installed ourselves - not too bad of a job. And now after doing a little bit of homework found that it fell into the IDM/DIC recall which ruined the catalytic converter a few thousand miles ago (part of the $3,000 repairs). Turns out the local dealer is replacing that for no charge. Cosmetically it looks great, that cool cup-holder inside doesn't work though. (Not too big a deal, but I didn't think the part would be $71). Next will be a new windshield due to the fact that it has 160,000 highway miles worth of sandblasting. The hood has quite a few stone chips which are masked well being that the paint is silver and so it the metal underneath. Right now we are trying to find why it puffs a cloud of blue smoke when I start it. Hopefully it will be a PCV issue and not an expensive turbo problem. I am going to splurge and have it detailed sometime soon seeing as the previous owner did not keep up with the crud on the inside very well. Not a bad car for my first car at 17 years old. I definitely got lucky. Your wagon sounds good. I have heard that because 1999 is the first year of that V6 it's a little bit more vibrational than the later model V6's. I think Saab worked out some of the kinks as time went bye. Good luck.
