If you do a search for "Viggen snow" or something similar on one of the boards (9-3, performance or off-topic), you'll see that some people use 17 inch rims, with their wider tires. I believe that Viggen and Aero rims are very similar. I was going to buy a package from Ronal that used Nokian tires on 16x7.5 inch rims. However, I went with the Saab package (205-50/16 on 6.5 inch rims) because I wasn't sure that the Ronal rims would fit the Viggen, and it would be a hassle to mail the tires back to CA.
You can probably get away with wider tires, because the freeways are plowed first.
I also live in CT, although I'm hoping that I can get rid of the beater Jeep and use the Viggen exclusively in the snow. We'll see how it is this winter. One detriment to the Viggen, and probably to the Aero, is the incredibly low ground clearance. In snow of more than a few inches, the Viggen will become a snow plow.
